Call and Response

Steve,

The glass is indeed broken. Without public financing of elections I fear
we're ultimately doomed to live in a Corporatocracy run by those with the
most money. Cheap labor, no unions, no accountability, and a "unitary
executive" will turn us into a third world economy with a small number of
haves and a large number of have nots or have littles. During the last
debate about election finance reform one of our senators (guess which one)
called public financing "welfare for politicians." In a sense, he was
right. This would be a far better government with all of our elected
officials on the public dole rather than on the private take.

To which Steve replied:

I agree the glass is broken but it is not repairable. We need to take what the founding fathers gave us and form a new glass. I think part of the problem is that we no longer look at our responsiblity as citizens to vote and be informed voters. Do you think that even the religious right would have voted for george w if they knew that he went AWOL from the guards, had 3 failed businesses, probably did insider trading and was a drunk?

I was very active in union politics and it was very upseting even after they recieved numerous mailing that some of the members didn't even know when the primaries were taking place. We need to pay more attention to the primaries and get active in politics so that we know what is going on. We can't let our unions or churchs tell us how to vote, we need to give our money to grass root campaigns so that we know what is happening. BUt I really lost alot of faith in my union when they indorsed Howard Dean last election.

The immigrate situation is about laws. I don't care how much I feel sorry for these people they are breaking the law. We have a president that thinks the constatution is a god damn piece of paper. He breaks the law daily and then uses our tax dollars that we work hard for and flies around the country trying to spread his propaganda saying he did nothing wrong. We should have stood up as Americans and depanded that he be fired after he stayed on vacation, eating birthday cake and strumbing a guitar as people drowned in NO>

I did, but it did little good. But I didn't set back like the Germans and say nothing. THe evil just goes down the line. Unions are so money hungry that they are supporting the illegal immigrates that are stealing our jobs and driving living wages down to third world numbers. THe unions only want to help the little guy that makes very little money. Maybe they want to be able to milk more money from people. I struggled to get through college, I paid my dues, I do deserve more money then someone with a high school eduation, thank you very much.

Companies that hire illegal immigrates are breaking the law. They should be fined and jailed. Companies that make union contracts and then break them to move to nonunion states should have the unions follow right behind them and organize the people. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATES SHOULD BE ROUNDED UP AND SENT HOME. I am not saying this because I don't care about them, but they are breaking the law. We have already sent lots of jobs to their countries.

If we love our country we need to do our job. Maybe we need to start calling our congress people and demand that the laws be followed. If they will not put tariffs on goods coming from other countries that we need to vote with our pocket books. We need to stop shopping at Wallmark. WHat would companies do if they started to get letters from us saying that we are sorry we can't buy their products until they are once more made from start to finish in the USA. I don't know about you but I would rather pay more for something that will last then less so that I have more. Yes the glass is broken and all king george's horse and all king george's men can't put the glass back together again.

We need to stand up and demand a new glass back one just like the founding fathers designed in the first place.

To which I say, face forward since you can't go home.
